Reflection
Reflecting on my experience in photography and digital imaging, I
can see how much I have grown, both technically and creatively.
When I first started, I was amazed by photography but overwhelmed
by all the settings and options. I'm not sure where to
start.
However, over time, with tutorials and lots of practice, I became
more comfortable with the basics like exposure and composition.
These basics help me capture sharper, more balanced images. This
skill gives me more control over my shots, making my photos feel
more purposeful and polished.
I have learned how to manipulate natural light and focusing
techniques to create more dynamic and realistic images. Looking
back, I feel much more confident in my ability to capture images
with purpose and apply these skills to future projects.
My journey with digital imaging has been equally transformative. At first, editing was a challenge I had trouble understanding the tools and software. But over time, I grew more familiar with Photoshop. The photo manipulation assignments really helped me understand the power of digital editing. I learned how to use tools like the crop tool, layer masks, color adjustments, and filters, but more importantly, I began thinking more deeply about image composition. The rule of thirds and the concept of visual balance helped me create images that felt more compelling and cohesive. Working with both raw and edited images taught me how to combine elements thoughtfully and tell a story visually. My “Heart Mansion” project, which involved blending multiple images, really pushed me to refine my editing skills and make my compositions seamless. I also learned a bit of After Effects for the final project, "self-titled.". At first I struggled a lot, but then because of the tutorials that were provided, it helped me to improve my animation skills.
Looking back, I see that the most valuable learning came from balancing technical learning with creative exploration. Both photography and digital imaging felt intimidating at first, but now I feel much more confident in my ability to use these tools to create refined and meaningful work. The skills I've developed whether adjusting camera settings or perfecting edits will be critical in future projects. I'm excited to continue building on what I've learned and continue applying these techniques. This learning not only gave me more confidence but also increased my enthusiasm to improve my skills in the future. The skills I’ve developed whether it’s adjusting camera settings or fine-tuning an edit will be crucial in future projects. I’m excited to keep building on what I’ve learned and continue applying these techniques. These lessons have not only given me more confidence but have also fueled my excitement to improve my craft moving forward.
