Project 1 Week 6 : Re-coloring
LECTURES
for this self-directed week we learned about poster design. We
were also given assignments and tutorials for our new
assignment, which is re-colouring.In poster design there are 7
important principles.
In poster design there are 7 important principles. These are
called important because they can make our posters attractive
in the eyes of people. These 7 principles are, emphasis,
contrast, white space, balance and alignment, movement,
repetition, and proportion.
INSTRUCTION
PROJECT 1 / Exercise 6 – Re-colouring
Exercise 6.1
We were given a tutorial on re-coloring from grayscale to
color. We were given two exercises. For the first exercise
we were given a tutorial on coloring using a brush. We
were free to choose the color.
I started from coloring the face to the hair and facial
features next. For this task I have not had any difficulties
because the process is the same as procreate (drawing
application).
Initially I wanted her hair color to be lilac purple, but when in soft light the result was brighter. So I changed it the color , so that it can make her hair color even softer. There are also several layers that I set the opacity to, to make the color even softer. The rest of the layers I only set to overlay or soft light.
Final Re-colouring
Exercise 6.1
Next, we were asked to do re-colouring, but this time we
used the mask tool, different from the previous task, and
for the color we had to eyedrop from the photo that had been
provided.
I tried the mask tool from all its features. For this
exercise I had a little difficulty in working on it because
I am not used to using the mask tool, but slowly I can do it
well, in my opinion this tool is very helpful.
In this work I also use other colors besides the ones told.
I also use brush tools to help color the photo. After that I
use color fill for some face features such as lips and
teeth. For the background I also use color fill to make the
work easier.
Exercise 6.1
After doing all the tutorial exercises, we were asked to
re-color with the photos provided on Google Drive. I colored
with the tools taught in the video tutorial.
I chose Jin's photo from BTS. I had a few times where I
had trouble coloring his hair and it hit his eyebrows. I
had to repeat it over and over again until it was
neat. I also had trouble coloring the skin, because
sometimes the mask didn't want to detect the image, so I
had to repeatedly correct it.
