Project 2
- The interior was redesigned to feel more spacious, and certain sections were removed to better showcase the details inside the aircraft.
Experience
During Project 2, I found the interior design process more manageable compared to the exterior design. The interior required fewer revisions, and I was able to understand and arrange the layout effectively, ensuring that the pilot, controls, and other elements were properly proportioned and functional. The most challenging part of this project was designing and rendering the props, particularly the weapon, as it required careful detailing and took a significant amount of time to render accurately. Despite this, I enjoyed the process and felt more confident in handling interior design compared to the exterior.
Observation
In developing the interior, I referred to historical jet interiors and studied how space was organized around the pilot and controls. Observing existing aircraft layouts helped me make decisions regarding ergonomics and functionality. For the props, I explored reference materials and experimented with different design elements to create a weapon that was both visually interesting and integrated with the aircraft’s concept.
Findings
This project emphasized the importance of proportion, functionality, and attention to detail in interior and prop design. I learned that understanding spatial relationships and ensuring elements fit correctly is key to a successful interior design. Additionally, the rendering process for complex props highlighted the need for patience and careful planning. Overall, this project allowed me to strengthen my design skills in interiors and props while reinforcing lessons in organization, observation, and technical execution.
