Mood Board Enviroment
In Task 3, we began executing our character design. After that, I began gathering mood boards for the environment to use with my character. Since my character is a qilin forest guardian, most of my references were forest-themed.

Hero Pose Explanation
In Task 2, we explored poses for our character. I used the predetermined hero pose, in which the character is swinging their sword as if performing a skill.
Posing for one of his skills, the fire skill, inspired by characters like Diluc from Genshin Impact and Tanjiro from Kimetsu no Yaiba. Because the qilin is a forest protector and a hybrid beast, it must be strong to defend the protected forest.

Mood Board SplashArt
Here, I started gathering mood boards as references for my splash art. I was mostly inspired by Genshin Impact’s and Wuthering Wave. In the splash art, I wanted my character to showcase all three of their main skills.Fig 3.1 Moodboard Splash Art
Thumbnail Sketch
After that, I executed sketches for the splash art, creating a total of three sketches: the first for the fire skill, the second for the wind skill, and the third for the water skill. I planned for some of these elements to revolve around my character, and I also included a qilin creature since my character is a qilin.

Final Pose
In the end, the splash art featuring [specific skill] was selected by both myself and Sir Fitri. This splash art depicts a qilin behind the character, representing the aura within my character. Surrounding the character are flames symbolizing the skill, with the fire rendered in red and blue to enhance the visual impact.

Experience
During the splash art stage, I found rendering the flames to be the most challenging part of the process. Creating realistic and visually appealing fire around my character required careful observation and experimentation. To overcome this, I studied references from existing splash arts, such as those in Genshin Impact, to understand how fire can be stylized while maintaining dynamic energy. Although the task was enjoyable and creatively stimulating, it was also quite demanding and time-consuming. This experience helped me improve my skills in rendering complex elements and integrating them cohesively with the character and environment.
Observations
I observed that rendering dynamic elements like fire involves both technical skill and artistic judgment. The shape, movement, and color of the flames needed to complement the character’s pose and the overall composition. Studying professional splash art references provided valuable insights into layering, lighting, and color blending, which enhanced the final visual impact.
Findings
From this task, I learned that achieving a convincing and aesthetically pleasing effect requires patience, research, and iterative refinement. Observing and analyzing reference materials allowed me to better understand how to depict energy and motion in static images. The process confirmed that combining observation with experimentation is essential for rendering complex visual effects successfully.
