Exercise
LECTURE
The lecture was conducted in class and explained through a video presentation.
Exercise
For this assignment, we were required to complete six different tasks: deconstruction, form and function, perspective, line weight, color exploration, and texture exploration.
Below are my sketches and attempts for each task.
Deconstruct Exercise:
This exercise challenged me to deconstruct vehicles from three environments: land, water, and air. As vehicle drawing is not my strong point, I intentionally explored different vehicle types to improve my understanding of their forms and structures.
The process started with red construction lines to map out proportions and movement, followed by blue lines to develop the primary shapes of each vehicle.

Form and Function
In this exercise, we were asked to create three archetypes based on our chosen vehicle. I chose an air vehicle a military aircraft and experimented with designs inspired by insects and animals to find a suitable form for the plane. I consulted with Sir Kanan, who suggested that I explore more broadly and look for inspiration from existing military aircraft.

Perspective Exercise
I found the perspective exercise challenging, as I have limited proficiency in drawing perspectives. Nevertheless, through consistent practice, I was able to complete the task successfully. I chose to focus on an aircraft for this exercise, as it provides a practical foundation for progressing with subsequent stages of my project.
I completed two perspective exercises: one of a regular airplane and another of a jet, which I plan to use in my upcoming project. This required me to have a solid understanding of perspective to ensure accuracy and consistency in my future work.

LineWeight Exercise
I also found the line weight exercise challenging. Previously, Sir Kanan advised me to practice controlling the thickness and thinness of lines. Initially, I experimented with customizing a pen suitable for the exercise and even tried several brushes to assist me. With some guidance and consistent practice, I gradually improved and gained better control over my line work.

Coloring Exercise
I didn’t encounter much difficulty with the color exercise. I used watercolor and airbrush tools to assist me in practicing coloring. I also experimented with contrasting colors and practiced applying basic shading and highlights to enhance depth in my work.

Texture Exercise
For the texture exercise, I focused on creating a metallic texture. I applied overlay and multiply techniques to achieve the effect, which can be clearly seen on the surface of the jet.

FEEDBACK
- The feedback I received for this exercise highlighted areas I need to improve on. I need to further develop my understanding of perspective and enhance my control over brushes and line weight. Additionally, I should explore more designs of military aircraft and refer to existing examples as references to inform and inspire my own work.
REFLECTION
Experience
During this exercise, I faced several challenges, such as deciding which type of vehicle to choose and determining its overall form. I also struggled with technical aspects like perspective, line weight, and coloring. With consistent practice and guidance from Sir Kanan, my peers, and additional tutorials, I was able to gradually improve and complete the tasks successfully.
Observation
I explored various references on Pinterest and studied existing military aircraft designs. I also watched videos of fighter jets in action, which helped me understand their structure, movement, and proportions. These observations provided a clearer idea of how real-world aircraft function and informed my own design decisions.
Findings
This exercise highlighted the importance of practice, experimentation, and using multiple resources for learning. I realized that combining observation, reference studies, and hands-on practice allows me to overcome technical challenges and generate more creative ideas for my designs.
