Project 1

Objective:
In this task, you are to produce a detailed and coherent recommendation for the redesign of an existing site. The recommendation should reflect a careful evaluation of how the site currently works and is designed, and present some new site design recommendations that will improve the user experience, design aesthetics, and overall effectiveness of the site.

REFLECTION

Experience
Creating the website redesign proposal for Mie Sedaap using Canva was a fun and eye-opening experience. Instead of redesigning the site directly, I focused on presenting the problems and offering clear ideas for improvement. I enjoyed using Canva to organize my thoughts visually—through moodboards, layout sketches, and color suggestions. It felt like building a creative pitch. One challenge I faced was deciding which issues to highlight, since not everything could fit in one proposal. This process helped me understand that design is not just about visuals, but also about strategy, communication, and creating a better user experience overall.

Observation
While analyzing the current Mie Sedaap website, I noticed several areas that could be improved. The layout feels crowded and lacks clear visual focus. Important content like product categories or promotions are not highlighted well. Navigation is also confusing, making it hard to explore different product types. In terms of branding, the design doesn’t reflect the fun and bold identity of Mie Sedaap that we usually see in ads. I also noticed inconsistency in font usage and spacing. These small issues, when combined, affect the overall user experience and make the website feel less professional and less engaging.

Findings
From this proposal, I found that improving Mie Sedaap’s website should start with clarity and consistency. Key product categories should be separated like Dried, Soup, and Korean to make browsing easier. Visual hierarchy needs improvement so that important sections stand out more. The brand personality should also be more present through colors, fonts, and layout choices that reflect its youthful energy. I suggested a cleaner layout, better use of whitespace, and simplified navigation. These changes could make the website more attractive and functional. This task showed me that even a simple proposal can shape a strong direction for a future redesign.
