LECTURES

For the DPI and IVN collaboration assignment, we were given a tutorial on the tools that can be used for typography. We were taught effects, intertwined, 3D, clipping masks, and selection tools.

After that I followed the tutorial and did all the tools for my name. I used a brush and also twined the brush to my name. After that I gave it a 3D effect and also an obsidian effect.

Next I tried with numbers; here we were taught clipping masks. I also used intertwined and also brushes.

INSTRUCTIONS

Process Work

Week 7: Research and Reference
As this task is a collaboration with DPI, this week I am looking for ideas for typography illustrations for the quotes. Because the poster concept is dreamy, I looked for a typography font that was suitable for the concept.

Week 8:  Sketching
Once I have a concept, I start with a sketch of what I want. I wanted my typography to look expressive, so I drew illustrations around it.

Week 9-10 : Digitalization
After finishing the sketch, I started digitization. I used the pen tool and brush to do the illustration. I also colored the quotes blue. I chose blue because it is a cool tone; if I use red, it is a bit invisible and blends in too much with the background.

I was careful to add details to each word; my main focus words were pov and see, so those two words were the ones I focused on in detail.

I added texture to the typography so that it blended with the cloudy background concept. Initially I wanted to use a smoke texture, but instead it made the typography unreadable. I changed it to a watercolor paper texture.

Sir Hafiz gave me several suggestions for my poster. I followed the suggestion regarding adding the words "love" and "POV" in the background of my poster. Finally, I made a new illustration only for "Love" and "POV." I only changed the color of the illustration and also deleted the surrounding images, so it wasn't too distracting.

FEEDBACK
Week 9
Sir Hafiz said below, he already likes the concept; it's just that I have to change the sketch a little so that the main focus is only a few. So I changed it a little, and he wanted the typography to be on the shirt.

Week 10
Sir Hafiz gave me some suggestions, but overall it was good. He suggested the composition of the typo close and also suggested putting the words "Love" and "POV" in the background to fill the existing negative space.

REFLECTION

Working on this assignment was a great learning experience.I'm having trouble composing the text for the poster. I was also taught new tools in Illustrator so that I added knowledge. The assignment asked us to create an illustrated typography poster, which had its challenges. I struggled with arranging and styling the text while trying to ensure the design was visually balanced. Despite these difficulties, I was able to complete the task successfully. Overall, the assignment was both challenging and rewarding, teaching me valuable skills along the way.
